San Francisco Neighborhoods - Pacific Heights Real
Estate
With multi-million dollar mansions and views of the
Bay to match, Pacific Heights is an easy way to escape from the urban
chaos below. This privileged, elegant neighborhood embodies Hollywood's
vision of San Francisco, with its blocks of Victorian mansions and its
Cinemascope views of the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. It's just these
features that make the area a perennial favorite with visitors to the
city. San Francisco locals tend to be a bit more cynical about the exclusive
air of Pacific Heights, but that doesn't mean you won't catch residents
of other neighborhoods making a special trip for the eclectic, upscale
shopping opportunities that Fillmore Street offers. The neighborhood
is loosely bordered by Van Ness and Presidio avenues and Pine and Vallejo
streets. Along Union and Sacramento St., the aristocratic Pacific Heights
boasts the greatest number of Victorian buildings in the city. The Heights
escaped mostly unscathed by the 1906 earthquake but sustained serious
damage in 1989, and Victorian restoration has become a full-fledged
enterprise. Mansions used as foreign consulates, as well as an abundance
of other grand homes, can be found around Pierce and Clay St. Pacific
Heights is home to luxury real estate.
